Laboratory Job Description:
This role is responsible the coordination of the offsite accounts Minimum Qualifications Education A baccalaureate degree from a NAACLS accredited medical technology education program is required. Additional education and/or advanced degree preferred. Credentials ASCP certification is preferred but can be obtained through the following: MT Certification or eligible from ASCP (American Society of Pathologists), AMT (American Medical Technologists), or NCA (National Credentialing Agency. Certification received in the year 2004 or later must maintain a minimum of 36 contact hours of continuing education every three years. Essential Functions Coordinates and/or generates new business revenue, establishes long term business relationships, develops, and leads specific account strategies. Identifies, qualifies, and creates new business relationships and enhances existing relationships between the department and various customer segments within the service area. Meets with a wide range of staff including hospital executives, physicians, nurses, practice managers, office managers, nursing homes and industry. Serves as liaison and a resource within the department for other institutions and providers. Provides pricing quotes, arranges, and oversees courier services, plans, works with the LIS Administrators on the implementation and upkeep of computer interfaces with Client systems, and provides training at client site(s), arranges supplies, etc. to support outreach activities. Troubleshoots specific issues/problems to ensure the timely and smooth transition, processing, courier transportation, billing and reporting to clients. Participates and represents the department in regional and system activities involving outreach services. Generates and submits department charges for billing purposes. Keeps abreast of regulatory issues, reimbursement issues, and service requirements. Interacts and works with customer service and logistics staff. Directs and supervises logistics to ensure that services are high quality and cost-effective. Oversees and manages courier training. Demonstrates safe and competent use of equipment and software to carry out duties. Includes; accurate entry of patient information and specimen information into software systems for the LIS and EHR. Performs testing ensuring that instrumentation is operating within established guidelines, including maintenance and troubleshooting as assigned. Performs phlebotomies and urine drug screens as requested, including special collections. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of Laboratory quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations or attending instrumentation training. Assists in writing and documenting new procedures and implementing new instrumentation. Reviews procedures as requested. Performs and maintains duties in a clinical laboratory setting.
