Job Description

The Customer Service Representative I serves as a primary point of contact for customers visiting or calling the propane office. This position provides excellent customer service, assists with propane orders and applications, answers account and billing questions, processes payments, and helps ensure customers receive timely and professional service. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for walk-in customers and incoming phone calls. Assist prospective customers with propane applications and the intake process. Receive propane orders and accurately determine customer fuel needs based on tank capacity and gauge readings. Explain Will Call and Autofill accounts and billing procedures to customers. Respond to customer questions, service requests, billing inquiries, and appointment requests. Monitor and manage the customer service email inbox. Communicate important service information and messages to field technicians and management. Efficiently manage a high volume of phone calls, emails, and customer interactions. Process customer payments by cash, check, and credit/debit card. Operate POS and online payment systems. Perform daily cash drawer counts and reconciliation. Operate the cylinder filling station and safely fill propane cylinders up to 100 lbs. Inspect, requalify, and properly handle outdated or expired propane cylinders. Maintain a clean and safe cylinder dock in accordance with propane handling procedures. Perform filing, typing, data entry, and general record-keeping duties. Escalate complex customer concerns to the General Manager as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 years of age or older . Must possess or successfully obtain an LP09 Classification within 90 days of employment to fill propane cylinders up to 100 lbs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to demonstrate patience, attentiveness, empathy, and professionalism when working with customers. Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. Ability to effectively balance walk-in customers, telephone calls, emails, and other responsibilities. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and carry, push, and pull items as required. Ability to work extended periods sitting at a desk, standing at a customer service counter, and outdoors on the cylinder dock in varying weather conditions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous cashiering or cash-handling experience. Previous propane cylinder or bottle-filling dock experience. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
