Full Job Description Job Type:

Full-Time / Part-Time (Evening & Weekend availability required) About the Role Are you passionate about tabletop gaming, hobbies, and community building? Mothership Books and Games is looking for a dynamic, outgoing, and customer-focused Front Desk Representative to join our team in Pflugerville . In this role, you will be the face of our shop—helping local players find their next favorite game, building relationships with our regulars, keeping our space welcoming, and supporting our thriving community events.

Please note:

This position primarily requires evening and weekend shifts.

Daily Responsibilities Customer Experience:

Greet customers, operate the point-of-sale (POS) register, handle pickup orders, and provide friendly, knowledgeable recommendations.

Order Fulfillment:

Accurately pull card singles, pack online orders, and assist with shipping logistics.

Store Maintenance:

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment by tidying workspaces, player areas, the sales floor, and restrooms.

Merchandising:

Restock shelves, organize inventory, and ensure products are attractively displayed.

Event Support:

Assist with setting up, running, and breaking down in-store tournaments and community events.

Qualifications Required:

Must be 18+ years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States 3+ years of experience in retail - based customer service Strong verbal communication skills in English. Ability to stand for extended periods and repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs. Reliable, consistent availability for evening and weekend shifts. Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.

High attention to detail:

Consistent ability to alphabetize, categorize, and match visual symbols, set icons, and card names with near-perfect accuracy (essential for data entry and pulling singles). Preferred (Nice-to-Have): A friendly, outgoing demeanor with a natural ability to build rapport with regular customers. Familiarity, passion, or experience with one or more of the following:

Magic:

The Gathering, Pokémon,

Disney Lorcana, Star Wars:

Unlimited , Bandai TCGs, board games, or D&D/tabletop RPGs. Ability to confidently assist and make recommendations to MTG players or Pokémon collectors. Excellent patience and conflict-resolution skills, particularly during high-energy event nights. Prior experience with Shopify or specialized hobby POS systems is a major plus.
