Pay based on demonstrated experience in live events and AVL installation.
ABOUT FLOODJAY PRODUCTIONS
Floodjay Productions is a full-service Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) company based in Modesto, California. We partner with houses of worship and K-12 schools to produce live events, design and install AVL systems, and keep those systems running. We are a lean, relational company serving the Central Valley today, with the aspiration of becoming a national integrator and production company. The people we hire now are part of that foundation. Much of our work happens in sanctuaries and school auditoriums, alongside worship teams, school administrators, performing arts programs, and students. We take that responsibility seriously, and so does everyone on our team.
WHY FLOODJAY
You are the senior technician on site. You report directly to the owner, you have real input on how jobs get done, and you are joining early enough that your work shapes who we become as we grow toward a national footprint. There is no layer between you and the person who makes decisions. The work has meaning. When you install a sound system at a church, you are equipping a congregation for the next decade. When you run audio at a school musical, you are giving students a moment they will remember. That matters to us, and it will matter to you. No two days are the same. One week you are running FOH for a spring musical. The next you are commissioning a new sanctuary system. The week after that you are solving an aging-infrastructure problem under budget. You will build skills across live events and installation that most techs only get in one discipline. You build real relationships. Most of our clients are within driving distance of Modesto, and they will know your name. Overnight travel is currently minimal and will grow as we win projects beyond the Valley; the amount will vary with our project calendar.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Operate FOH and monitor audio, video switching and projection, IMAG, livestream, and lighting consoles for live events at churches, schools, and special events
  • Deploy and operate special effects including fog, haze, CO2, and confetti systems
  • Pre-build, bench-test, and stage AVL systems in the warehouse, then execute installations on site from rough-in through commissioning: rack building, cable runs and termination, speaker mounting, unistrut and basic rigging, and system tuning
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on client AVL systems, including diagnosing and fixing problems in real time under pressure
  • Serve as Floodjay's on-site technical point of contact with pastors, principals, and event staff: professional, calm, and solutions-focused
  • Lead crews of 1 to 3 on larger event setups and installs
  • Drive company vehicles to client sites and handle gear prep, load-in, and load-out
  • Keep equipment organized, show-ready, and maintained, and flag gear issues and inventory gaps to the owner
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required
  • 3+ years of hands-on AVL experience with strong proficiency in live event production or AVL system installation, and working exposure to the other. Pay reflects your depth in each.
  • Proficiency in FOH and monitor mixing, video signal routing and switching, and lighting console programming
  • Hands-on installation experience: cable termination, rack building, signal flow, reading system drawings, and commissioning
  • Strong troubleshooting skills under pressure
  • Comfortable and respectful working in faith-based environments and school settings, including regular interaction with students
  • Available for a variable schedule. Events often run evenings and weekends; installs and service work typically run weekdays. We schedule in advance whenever possible and balance the calendar together.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, work at height on ladders and lifts, and stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Valid driver's license (California license within 30 days of hire) and a driving record insurable under Floodjay's commercial auto policy. Driving company vehicles to client sites is an essential function of this role. Preferred
  • Allen & Heath or Yamaha consoles;
QSC / Q-SYS DSP
; Shure wireless and Dante networked audio; ETC lighting consoles;
JBL / QSC
speaker systems
  • Blackmagic Design, Resi, and ProPresenter livestream workflows
  • Background in house-of-worship production or school performing arts environments
•
AVIXA CTS
certification or equivalent, a plus, not a requirement
