Our company manufactures equipment and products for public safety and first responder vehicles. This position works closely with engineering, production, sales, and customers to install and evaluate products, verify product fitment and functionality, troubleshoot installation-related issues, and develop professional installation instructions based on real-world installations. The primary responsibility of this role is to transform completed product installations into clear, accurate, and easy-to-follow installation documentation. This includes documenting each step of the installation process, capturing and editing supporting images, incorporating CAD screenshots or exploded views when available, and reviewing completed instructions with the engineering team before release. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable using hand and power tools, technically proficient, organized, dependable, and able to communicate installation information clearly in both written and visual formats. Key Responsibilities Install vehicle equipment, components, and related products on public safety and first responder vehicles. Test-fit products and verify proper fitment, function, performance, and ease of installation. Document complete installation processes through written instructions, photographs, illustrations, CAD images, screenshots, and exploded views. Create clear, accurate, and professional installation instruction documents for installers and customers. Revise and improve existing installation instructions and technical support materials for clarity, accuracy, and usability. Review installation documentation with the engineering team before release to production or customers. Communicate product fitment, installation concerns, and improvement recommendations to engineering and production teams. Identify installation-related issues and assist with developing practical solutions. Provide technical and installation support to customers and the sales team by phone, email, and video meeting. Travel to customer locations to assist with field installations, product evaluations, and fitment verification a few times per year. Provide professional and responsive customer support during field visits. Maintain organized project files, installation records, tools, equipment, and work areas. Follow applicable company safety, quality, documentation, and work-area requirements. Perform other related engineering support duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience installing vehicle equipment, automotive accessories, fabricated products, or similar components. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience using hand and power tools. Experience creating installation instructions, technical documents, work instructions, or similar support materials. Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, technical drawings, product specifications, and installation instructions. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word or similar document-creation software. Experience using Photoshop, Paint.

NET, or similar image-editing software. Ability to capture, edit, label, and organize images for use in technical documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple assignments and complete documentation accurately and on schedule. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with engineering, production, sales, and customers. Proficient typing, computer, and data-entry skills. Familiarity with technical support, field service, installation, or customer-support environments. Ability to travel occasionally as required. Valid driver's license. Ability to safely lift and move equipment, tools, and products associated with installations. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with products or equipment designed for public safety, emergency, commercial, or specialty vehicles. Experience using SolidWorks or similar CAD software to create screenshots, exploded views, or visual references for installation documentation. Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, automotive, or product-development environment. Previous field installation or technical customer-support experience. Work Environment This position combines office, shop, and occasional fieldwork. The employee will regularly participate in hands-on product installations and testing while also preparing detailed documentation in an office environment. Occasional travel to customer locations will be required throughout the year.
