Job Description

Who We Are The Lynnwood Event Center, operated by The District, is where our community comes together. From conventions and conferences to celebrations and community gatherings, we create spaces where people connect, celebrate, learn, and make lasting memories. As Lynnwood's Public Facilities District (PFD), we're committed to creating exceptional experiences that strengthen our community and support local economic growth. Every event hosted at the Lynnwood Event Center helps build a more vibrant city while creating opportunities for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. Why Work For Us At The District, your work has purpose, and every member of our team plays a role in creating exceptional experiences. You'll join a team that values Transform, Trust, Thoughtfulness, and Teamwork. We encourage new ideas, take pride in doing things well, support one another, and aren't afraid to jump in wherever we're needed. For our Audio Visual Supervisor, that means bringing events to life behind the scenes while also being a visible, dependable partner to clients, coworkers, and the technicians you lead. More Than a Job This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being where the action is. One day you may be operating sound and video for a corporate conference. The next, you may be preparing microphones for a community event, troubleshooting equipment during a live program, directing part-time AV technicians, or helping the operations team complete a room flip for the next event. While you'll take the lead on AV services, you'll also be an active member of our event operations team. This position is expected to spend approximately two-thirds of its time supporting AV and one-third supporting general event setup, depending on the event calendar. If you enjoy live events, know your way around AV equipment, stay calm when something doesn't go according to plan, and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and help the team, this may be the role for you. Position Summary The Audio Visual Supervisor leads audio visual services at the Lynnwood Event Center, overseeing the setup, operation, and strike of audio, video, and lighting equipment for conventions, corporate events, live performances, social events, and other programs. This position also maintains the venue's AV inventory and equipment, coordinates and trains part-time AV technicians, and serves as the lead technical presence for assigned events. Reporting to the Events & Operations Manager and working closely with Event Coordinators and the operations team, the Audio Visual Supervisor helps ensure every event is executed safely, professionally, and on schedule. At the Lynnwood Event Center, every role is a hospitality role. You'll work directly with clients, vendors, visiting production teams, and guests, so we're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with clear communication and excellent service.
Key responsibilities include:
Set up, operate, and strike audio, video, projection, and lighting equipment for events. Operate sound boards, wireless microphone systems, projectors, screens, video switching equipment, and other venue AV systems during live events. Serve as the lead technical presence during assigned events and troubleshoot equipment issues in real time. Safely run and secure cabling and support rigging in accordance with venue and manufacturer requirements. Coordinate, schedule, train, and provide day-to-day direction to part-time AV technicians. Partner with the Events & Operations Manager on AV staffing needs, technician performance, and development. Maintain an accurate inventory of AV equipment and establish regular testing and preventative maintenance practices. Diagnose equipment issues, complete basic repairs when appropriate, and coordinate outside repair services when needed. Monitor equipment condition and recommend future repairs, replacements, or purchases. Meet with clients and event teams to understand and confirm technical requirements before events. Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and visiting production crews regarding venue capabilities and technical needs. Work alongside the operations team on event setup and teardown, including tables, chairs, staging, pipe and drape, and room flips. Assist with room turns, multi-event days, and other event operations needs as part of the regular responsibilities of the position. Safely operate ladders, scissor lifts, carts, hand tools, and other venue equipment. Follow and reinforce venue safety procedures, including ladder, lift, cabling, and rigging safety. Job Qualifications & Requirements The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: Two (2) or more years of hands-on AV experience in a live event, venue, production, or similar environment. Experience independently operating sound boards, wireless microphone systems, video switchers, projection equipment, and related AV technology during live events. Experience leading, training, or directing technicians or other event staff. The ability to read and interpret event orders and technical riders. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to remain composed when technical issues arise during an event. Strong communication and customer service skills when working with clients, vendors, production crews, and coworkers. The ability to take ownership of equipment care, event execution, and workplace safety. A collaborative mindset and willingness to support the broader operations team outside of AV responsibilities. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly move tables, chairs, staging, and event equipment. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work safely at heights using ladders or scissor lifts. Availability to work a variable event-driven schedule that regularly includes days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight hours. The following qualifications will help you stand out: Experience working in a convention center, hotel, theater, performing arts venue, or full-service event facility. Experience scheduling or supervising part-time, on-call, or event-based technical staff. Familiarity with rigging systems, venue-scale lighting boards, and networked audio systems such as Dante. AVIXA CTS, Dante, Extron, or similar AV/manufacturer certifications. Forklift, scissor lift, or OSHA 10 certification.
