JOB DESCRIPTION
As a voice of the Burlington Bees, you will be an active, important part of the many facets of a college summer baseball organization. Primary responsibilities include providing first-rate experience for Bees' streaming viewers and listeners, marketing the team in town and surrounding communities, and helping create and implement new ideas to improve our broadcasts, as well as our stadium operation. You will clean and maintain your workspace. We will employe a team of two broadcasters for the 2027 season. The broadcast team will split play-by-play and commentary responsibilities on a schedule they will determined prior to the season. The Broadcasters report to the Director of Baseball Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Present a knowledgeable, exciting play-by-play description of 28 televised home games and 28 internet streamed away games as they happen.
- Coordinate with network broadcast engineer to ensure equipment is operational prior to each home game.
- Coordinate with network broadcast engineers to ensure content meets league and team requirements.
- Maintain effect communications with network carrier, and properly report any schedule changes in a timely, effective manner.
- Coordinate with both team's analytics groups to locate and connect internet service at away games.
- Help Prepare and distribute coaches' team statistical packages prior to each game.
- Plan, record and present a pre-game audio segment for each home game.
- Write and post game recaps on the team's web site.
- Any other tasks related to streaming broadcasts as assigned by the Front Office Staff.
- Help create new marketing, promotional, and community-relations opportunities for the Bees, including ways the team may expand fan base, corporate and community partners.
- Greet and host visiting team broadcast media staff.
- Work cooperatively with local and regional reporting services to distribute the Bees game action pictures, video and written highlights.
- Cooperate with Marketing/Multiple Media staff to provide video and audio support for promotional events.
START DATE
Start in mid-May. End on August 5 (start and finish dates are somewhat flexible and may be extended for playoff appearances). HOURS Full time. 10 AM through end of post-game production. All Tuesday through Saturday home games start at 6:30 PM. Expect to work weekends and special events. Our broadcasters travel with the team, including overnight trips.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Your housing and all utilities are paid for. Housing is provided in Southeastern Community College's Millennial Hall resident apartments. The apartment includes pass key security, full size kitchen, and internet connection. These are two-bedroom, four bed units. QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in a college or university and pursuing a broadcast, or similar, degree, or graduating Spring of 2027. Demonstrated experience broadcasting sporting events, including technical knowledge and ability to use and maintain the studio equipment required for the job. Must be knowledgeable of streaming platforms. Must be willing to have a good time presenting a family friendly, fan oriented play-by-play broadcast. Must be able to work cooperatively with a broadcast partner. We are looking for talented, self-motivated individuals who want be an integral part of a high-level collegiate summer baseball team.
