Scope
Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAM) around the world, both historical and contemporary, serve as repositories and homes for stories of all kinds. But GLAMs are often viewed as institutions, collections, or buildings, rather than also being the living organizations they are. Through an innovative, creative, and community-driven approach to scholarship, the
GLOBAL GLAM
strives to tell the stories of the people, communities, spaces, programs, services, and tools that contribute to all kinds of GLAMs - those who collect, curate, make accessible, and preserve the stories of others. Through this work, we hope to highlight the untold stories that explore the diversity of lived experiences of working with or in GLAMs across the globe and find creative ways to approach our work as knowledge and information professionals.
GLOBAL GLAM
is a peer-reviewed journal that will also include professional and community focused content. Vision
GLOBAL GLAM
seeks to push the boundaries of what counts as scholarship within library and information science (LIS). We strive to incorporate elements of the traditional publication process that result in high-quality scholarship with a creative, innovative, and experimental approach to exploring the work of libraries and archives globally with a distinct focus on telling stories. We seek to build community around the stories that are being told while simultaneously being driven by the community. Led by antiracist and decolonial social justice values, we seek to create a platform to experience and participate in Information Studies scholarship, not just consume it. A place where community members can tell their stories and discuss and debate critical issues affecting libraries and archives.
