These celebrate the small and medium-sized businesses that make each community what it is. Our work runs in more than 50 U.S. markets, and every piece depends on two things: strong content and accurate data. About the Role We're looking for a detail-driven Operations & Content Editor to join our Salem team.

The role includes editing:

you'll review, refine and fact-check business content so it's accurate, consistent and ready to publish; you'll also write original copy and take on analytical work, such as verifying contest data, spotting inconsistencies and keeping publications on schedule. This role is a good fit for someone who loves good writing and also enjoys catching mistakes, spotting patterns and solving problems. What You'll Do Editing Edit and proofread business profiles, paid features and client-provided stories for clarity, accuracy, tone and AP Style. Revise client-submitted copy to meet internal editorial standards while keeping the client's key message. Fact-check business names, addresses, categories, contact details and claims against websites, social media and internal records. Keep style and formatting consistent across print and digital publications in multiple markets. Writing Write short business profiles and spotlights using client-provided information and online research. Write longer features, which include interviewing business owners. Content Operations & Analysis Verify and maintain contest and business data, finding and fixing duplicates, errors and gaps. Review content and data across markets to spot recurring problems, ensuring correct information is published. Track assignments and deadlines across several markets and publication cycles. Answer client and internal questions by email quickly and professionally. What We're Looking For Required 1-3 years of experience in editing, writing, content operations or a related field (internships and college experience considered). Excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills. Working knowledge of AP Style. Strong attention to detail and a habit of verifying information. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort working in spreadsheets and data. Strong time management and the ability to handle multiple deadlines. Clear written communication and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience editing for marketing, advertising, small-business or community publications. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas, data cleanup). Experience with content management systems or databases.
