Assistant Manager & Floral Designer Flower Galaxy Upper Arlington, OH Job Details Part-time $18 - $20 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Merchandising Attention to detail Production management Retail management Full Job Description Part-Time | Approximately 20-25 hours per week About Flower Galaxy Flower Galaxy is a boutique floral shop focused on beautiful, thoughtfully designed flowers, exceptional customer service, and an elevated retail experience. We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and creative floral professional to join our team as a Part-Time Assistant Manager & Floral Designer . This position is ideal for someone who loves flowers and design but also enjoys the operational side of a floral business. The right person will be comfortable designing arrangements, working with wholesale flower suppliers, maintaining inventory, helping manage daily shop operations, and providing warm, knowledgeable customer service. This is a hands-on position with significant responsibility and the opportunity to become an integral part of a growing boutique floral business. Responsibilities Floral Design & Production Design daily arrangements, bouquets, centerpieces, and custom orders Create designs that reflect Flower Galaxy's aesthetic and quality standards Process, condition, hydrate, and properly store incoming flowers Maintain freshness and quality of all floral inventory Prepare arrangements for customer pickup and delivery Assist with seasonal, holiday, sympathy, corporate, and event orders Maintain a clean, organized, and beautiful design workspace Wholesale Ordering & Inventory Assist with weekly flower purchasing and wholesale ordering Monitor cooler inventory and identify upcoming product needs Track floral and hard-goods inventory Help determine appropriate quantities based on upcoming orders, seasonality, and expected demand Receive and inspect incoming flowers Communicate quality or availability issues with wholesale suppliers Help minimize waste through thoughtful purchasing and inventory rotation Maintain appropriate levels of vases, ribbon, containers, wrapping materials, cards, and other supplies Daily Shop Operations Help open and close the shop Maintain shop presentation and merchandising standards Ensure the cooler and retail areas remain organized and visually appealing Assist with POS transactions and order entry Monitor incoming phone calls, emails, and customer requests Coordinate customer pickups and deliveries Help identify operational issues and proactively solve problems Serve as a trusted second-in-command when the owner is not present Customer Experience Provide warm, professional, personalized service Assist customers in selecting flowers, plants, gifts, and arrangements Make thoughtful recommendations based on budget, occasion, color palette, and season Handle customer questions and concerns with professionalism Build relationships with repeat customers and local clients What We're Looking For 2+ years of professional floral design experience preferred Strong knowledge of flowers, greenery, conditioning, care, and seasonal availability Demonstrated ability to create attractive, balanced floral designs Strong organizational and inventory-management skills Comfortable working with wholesale flower suppliers Excellent attention to detail Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently Warm, polished, and customer-service oriented Comfortable using a POS system, email, and basic computer programs Able to lift and carry floral buckets, boxes, and supplies Comfortable working in a refrigerated floral cooler Willingness to work some Saturdays and additional hours during peak floral holidays The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who notices what needs to be done without being asked. You are creative, organized, practical, and calm under pressure. You take pride in beautiful work but also understand that a successful flower shop depends on purchasing carefully, managing inventory, minimizing waste, staying organized, and taking excellent care of customers. Schedule & Compensation Approximately 20-25 hours per week Regular weekday shifts with Saturdays Additional seasonal/holiday hours as needed Hourly compensation of approximately $18-$20/hour , commensurate with experience Opportunity for increased responsibility and hours as the business grows Peak Season Expectations Floral holidays are an important part of our business. Candidates must be willing to work additional hours during particularly busy periods, including Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other significant floral holidays.
