Who we are: Whalebacker is an independently owned and operated warehouse located in the heart of downtown Saginaw. We specialize in e-commerce and special projects fulfillments for clients mostly in the tabletop games industry, in addition to offering a suite of production and creative services for our clients. Who we're looking for: We are currently seeking a Pre-press Specialist and Graphic Designer for print for Whalebacker's Creator Services Department. This position requires a keen eye for detail, an understanding of print processes, good file management and organization, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for creative problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess client's files for design issues and potential print issues.
• Apply Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator technical skills to solve design issues.
• Prepare digital files for both traditional offset and digital print production, across multiple vendors with separate file requirements.
• Pre-flight, troubleshoot color and ink issues, and optimize files for press.
• Laying out covers and interiors of publications and marketing materials in Adobe InDesign for final export to factory.
• Work closely with the Chief Creative Officer and other team members for a thorough understanding of the client's needs.
• Communicate directly with clients when needed, to clarify project specifications.
• Maintain easy-to-locate file organization and project management tools to efficiently move from task to task.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design for print or 2+ years of experience in a pre-press or print production role with similar tasks.
• Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Experience preparing files for a variety of print (booklets, packaging, signage).
• A strong understanding of print production workflows.
• Strong communication regarding design and print issues.
• An understanding of color theory and design principles.

Pay:

$32,000.00
