DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a full-time position and will report directly to the Product Development Director. The primary duty of this role is to research and design seasonal collections in headwear, accessories, and hard goods for retail. This role works closely with the sales team for presentations as well as the production team for production follow up.

JOB DUTIES

RESPONSIBILITIES

INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

Creative design for headwear, t-shirts, accessories and hard goods. Create and present cad decks to sales team and prepare for buyer meetings. Modify or revise design to meet customer needs or production limitations. Be knowledgeable on materials and application techniques and how to apply to 3 dimensional items. Understanding how to design for a variety of budgets. Strong illustration skills for full design t-shirt graphics. Knowledge of print techniques helpful. Work with overseas factories to make sure your designs are production ready. Work with licensing on design/sample approvals, work with production team on quality checks. Strong multi-tasking skills - be able to work on multiple accounts and switch gears when needed. Be able to think outside the box creatively, follow trends and continuously raise the bar with designs. Be able to do trend research in the market and put together comprehensive recaps and apply the research to designs. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Must be able to understand composition, color science and color combinations in design. Excellent eye for aesthetic design and designing for a targeted audience. Able to create seamless patterns. Must be able to manage timeline for project management. Basic understanding of Excel is plus. Able to work in a team environment as well as independently. Must be proactive, organized and possess the ability to multi-task. Written and verbal communication and follow up skills are very important. Be committed to working on time-sensitive projects.
