POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal direction, manages, plans and coordinates tooling and product design activities involved with implementing a new product line for major aerospace commercial aircraft structural assembly.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Plan, conduct and orchestrate multiple high impact and highest complexity tooling projects that run concurrently. 2) Hot and cold form tooling experience with high temperature applications using stainless steel and graphite tooling materials. 3) Coordinate the work of the Engineers, Technicians, Tool and Die Makers, Suppliers and other support personnel; interact with Product Line Management, Accounting, Purchasing, manufacturing, Production Design and Suppliers/Customers. 4) Manage tooling Program budgets & schedule to meet business & Program objectives. 5) Work on miscellaneous tooling process problems dealing with production down time, loss of or low efficiency, ergonomics, safety or quality deviations. Set priorities for repair of tools as needed. 6) Product Design experience with metallic honeycomb assemblies using hot and cold forming. 7) Detail sheet metal components and assembly experience as it applies to product engineering and design. 8) Other process experience: CNC machining, TIG/resistance welding, heat treat and hot/cold forming for titanium, stainless steel and nickel alloys. 9) Assists in the development and maintenance of a business culture, which supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in issues that involve "cost, quality, process, schedule and people". 10) Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations. 11) Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS & SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION Requires a 4-year degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or a related field. An advanced degree desirable.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Requires 5-10 years directly related experience in a manufacturing environment with a demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. Must have strong demonstrated mechanical, chemical and machinery background. Must possess excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational and communication skills.
