Qualifications & Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff Knowledge of Deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals Relevant certification or licensure for sign language interpreting (state credentials, EIPA, or RID certification a plus) Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students in classroom and school activities Support teachers by translating lessons and instructions Assist with parent-teacher conferences and school meetings as needed Adapt to a variety of academic subjects and age groups, from elementary to high school Collaborate with educational teams to promote accessible learning environments Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in line with school and state guidelines
