Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into an engaging and impactful contract role supporting an elementary-aged student as an ASL Instructional Assistant, Paraprofessional, or Interpreter. In this rewarding position, you will use your American Sign Language skills to ensure a student's full participation in classroom learning, peer interactions, and daily school routines near Oceanside, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide American Sign Language (ASL) support for an elementary student throughout the school day Interpret or facilitate communication during classroom lessons, group activities, and transitions Foster clear communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers Assist with assignments, classroom routines, and transitions, supporting student independence Work closely with educators, special education staff, and school teams to create an inclusive learning environment Encourage the student's academic growth, social participation, and positive relationships with others

Qualifications:

Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience supporting elementary students, Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, or students who receive special education services preferred Background in schools, educational interpreting, or providing classroom support advantageous Patient, reliable, and effective communicator who enjoys working collaboratively EIPA and RID certifications are not required
