Job Description

Seabright School and Therapy Staffing seeks a School Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in partner school districts. In this role, you will provide accurate, real-time ASL interpretation for classroom instruction, school events, and related services, ensuring full access to curriculum and peer interaction. You will collaborate closely with teachers and therapists, follow IEP goals, and uphold professional, ethical standards. Responsibilities Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students in classroom and school activities Accurately convey spoken language to ASL and ASL to spoken language in real time Adapt interpretation to student age, learning needs, and IEP goals Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to support student access to instruction Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical interpreting standards Document services and communicate progress or concerns to the educational team Participate in school and staffing agency meetings, trainings, and professional development Required Skills American Sign Language (ASL) fluency Educational interpreting in K-12 settings Realtime voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpretation Understanding of IEPs and special education processes Classroom accommodation strategies for DHH students Professional interpreting ethics and confidentiality Note-taking and educational support techniques Collaboration with multidisciplinary school teams Basic educational technology and captioning tools Accurate documentation and service tracking
