Job Description

Step into a dynamic educational setting and make a real difference supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter and Speech-Language Interpreter. This contract position, spanning from October 1 through the end of December, offers the chance to work in a collaborative team environment, making communication accessible and enriching educational experiences for students each day. The position works closely with certified professionals and educators, supporting a caseload of approximately 40-50 students. Your workday runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, ensuring consistent, supportive engagement with the school community. You'll interact with students requiring assistance with language development, articulation, and utilize alternative communication technologies, including non-verbal AAC devices.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in Sign Language interpretation (SLI) and American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or teacher of ASL in educational environments Background working with a diverse range of students, including those needing speech therapy support Familiarity with the use of AAC devices for non-verbal students is highly desirable Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities Key responsibilities: Provide Sign Language and speech interpretation services in classroom and small group settings Facilitate clear, equitable communication between students, teachers, and staff Support the therapeutic speech needs of a diverse caseload of students Collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement individualized education plans Accurately maintain records and document student progress Enjoy the reward of impacting young learners' lives while working alongside passionate professionals.
