Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Enhance educational access for students by providing essential interpretation services in a dynamic school environment near Apex, NC. This contract role is tailored for professionals passionate about bridging communication gaps and ensuring all students have the tools to thrive in the classroom.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong expressive and receptive skills Previous experience interpreting in K-12 settings is highly valued Certification or license to interpret in educational contexts, if required by state regulations Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative academic environments Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate clear communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and faculty/staff in classroom and school activities Interpret lectures, instructions, discussions, and extracurricular events using appropriate sign language methods Support students' participation in both academic and non-academic settings Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to promote inclusive learning experiences Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times Contribute to the development of educational plans as part of the student support team
