Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) NM Educational Interpreter certification is highly preferred Paraprofessionals fluent in ASL are also strongly encouraged to apply Ability to foster positive, respectful relationships with students, educational staff, and parents Strong interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism within a school setting

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret classroom discussions, lectures, and school activities between deaf/hard of hearing students and staff Facilitate communication during IEP meetings, assemblies, and other school functions Work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure student participation in all educational settings Support students in both group and one-on-one situations, adapting interpreting techniques as needed Collaborate with educational teams to create accessible learning environments Maintain accurate documentation as required by school policies This contract position offers stability throughout the school year in a collaborative, student-centered atmosphere.
