Youll work one-on-one with a non-verbal student, serving as a crucial communication bridge and champion for their daily academic and social success.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Paraprofessional, ideally in a school environment Ability to interpret classroom instruction and peer interactions accurately Patient, compassionate, and flexible in adapting to students unique needs Familiarity with elementary-age children and special education classrooms is preferred Strong commitment to student privacy and confidentiality

Key Responsibilities:

Provide dedicated 1:1 sign language interpretation for a first-grade student throughout the school day Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure classroom activities are fully accessible Support social interactions and facilitate peer communication Adapt signs and communication strategies to match the students learning needs Help create an inclusive, encouraging environment that fosters the student's participation and independence Maintain thorough and confidential documentation of communication needs and progress This role promises a meaningful experience as you help a young learner overcome barriers, participate in classroom life, and thrive academically.
