Position Summary Shiloh Health is seeking a reliable and professional Certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide on-call interpreting services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients receiving psychiatric and mental health services. The interpreter will facilitate accurate, confidential, and culturally appropriate communication between patients and Shiloh Health providers during initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up appointments . Assignments may be virtual or in person at our Fort Worth or Southlake locations and will be scheduled based on patient needs. Responsibilities Provide accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL). Interpret during psychiatric evaluations, medication-management visits, and follow-up appointments. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Interpret accurately and impartially without adding, omitting, or altering information. Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards. Be comfortable interpreting sensitive mental-health discussions. Arrive or log in promptly for scheduled appointments. Communicate promptly regarding availability for on-call assignments.

Qualifications Required:

Current recognized ASL interpreter certification/credential appropriate for healthcare settings. Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language and spoken English. Understanding of Deaf culture and culturally appropriate communication. Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements. Reliable internet connection and private environment for virtual appointments. Professionalism, dependability, and strong communication skills.

Preferred:

Previous healthcare interpreting experience. Mental health, behavioral health, or psychiatric interpreting experience. Experience interpreting telehealth appointments. Familiarity with psychiatric and medical terminology. Compensation Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

$25 In-person assignments have a $100 minimum per trip/assignment . When multiple appointments are scheduled consecutively during the same assignment, compensation will be based on the total scheduled interpreting time, subject to the $100 minimum. Virtual Minimum Virtual assignments have a 30-minute minimum of $40 . Cancellations & No-Shows For patient no-shows or appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice , the interpreter will receive the scheduled appointment rate. Travel outside Shiloh Health's standard clinic locations must be approved in advance and may be compensated separately. Schedule This is an on-call independent contractor position . There are no guaranteed weekly hours. The interpreter will be contacted when ASL services are needed and may accept assignments based on availability.
