9673867-98815 Job Description Make an impact supporting students across several educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to engage with multiple sites, working closely with students, teachers, and staff to provide seamless communication and greater accessibility for all.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational environment preferred National Interpreter Certification (NIC), EIPA, or relevant state certifications Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom protocols Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with diverse teams Ability to travel between multiple school sites as part of the daily schedule Professional discretion and respect for student confidentiality
Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities to facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and others Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to promote student success Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and planning for specialized vocabulary Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of individual students and varying educational settings Support students during assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings when appropriate Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality at all times
