Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an impact each day by supporting students and fostering inclusive education environments as a full-time American Sign Language Interpreter. What We're Looking For:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong receptive and expressive skills Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Ability to adapt interpretation style for various age groups and learning environments Accreditation or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter desirable Professionalism, patience, and a passion for student success Willingness to work full time, in person, Monday through Friday (approximately 36.25 hours per week) Flexibility in assignment location within high, middle, or elementary school settings
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom lessons and activities for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers Assist students in understanding instructional content and participating fully in school activities Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure accessibility and foster student development Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards of interpretation Adjust techniques as needed to meet students' individual needs and education levels This 36.25-hour-a-week contract role opens doors to meaningful connection and personal growth while advocating for equitable access in education.
