Job Description

About Floodjay Productions Floodjay Productions is a full-service Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) company headquartered in Modesto, California. We partner with houses of worship and educational institutions to deliver world-class productions, design and install professional AV systems, and create meaningful experiences for the communities they serve. Our capabilities span live event production, system design and integration, equipment rentals, consulting, and ongoing maintenance. We're a lean, relational company that punches far above our weight. Currently operating at the regional level, we are actively scaling toward statewide coverage and broader market reach. This role is integral to that growth. The Role We are hiring our first full-time Lead Technician & Operations Manager — a senior leadership role that combines hands-on technical expertise with meaningful operational ownership. This is not a siloed position. You'll be running installs, leading shows, managing gear and logistics, training employees and contractors, and helping build the systems and culture that let Floodjay scale. If you're a seasoned AVL professional who's tired of just being a technician and wants to help build something — this is your seat at the table. Responsibilities Technical Lead audio, video, and lighting for live events — churches, schools, corporate, and special events Execute AV system installations from rough-in to commissioning Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on client systems Operate and program lighting consoles, audio consoles, and video systems Rig and manage special effects including fog, haze, and intelligent lighting Interface directly with clients on-site as the technical point of contact Travel to client sites across the Central Valley and occasionally beyond Operations Manage gear prep, load-out, and load-in for all events and installs Oversee warehouse organization, inventory tracking, and equipment maintenance logs Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and on-call crew Document and maintain SOPs for recurring workflows Train and mentor on-call contractors and employees to Floodjay standards Assist with quoting, project scoping, and pre-event client communication as needed Identify operational inefficiencies and propose solutions Requirements Required 5+ years of professional AVL experience in live event production, installation, or a combination of both Proficiency in audio mixing (front-of-house and monitor), video signal routing, and lighting operation Familiarity with ETC lighting consoles Experience with AV system installation (cable termination, rack building, signal flow, commissioning) Strong troubleshooting skills — you can diagnose a problem under pressure and fix it Valid California driver's license and clean driving record (CDL not required) Ability to lift 50 lbs., work at height, and stand for extended periods Comfort working in faith-based environments (churches) and school settings with students Self-directed and organized — you don't need someone to tell you what to do next Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with industry-standard platforms including QSC, Dante, Yamaha, ETC, and AVID Working knowledge of video production workflows —
