The Theatre Technician provides technical support for Iowa Central Community College productions, events, and performances. Responsibilities include assisting with lighting, sound, scenery, props, stage operations, and general production support. This position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and guest artists to ensure safe and successful performances. %
OF TIME ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Constant (67-100%) Assist with setup, operation, and strike of theatrical productions and special events. Support lighting, sound, scenery, props, and backstage operations. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. 2. Frequent (34-66%) Assist with technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances. Operate technical equipment as assigned. Communicate regularly with faculty, staff, and student crews regarding production needs. 3. Occasional (10-33%) Assist with inventory, maintenance, and storage of equipment and materials. Support facility rentals and special campus events as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive and professional manner. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and guests. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail. Follow safety procedures and work effectively as part of a team. Exercise sound judgment and maintain a positive work environment. High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in theatre production, live events, or technical theatre preferred. Ability to learn and safely operate theatrical equipment. Strong organizational and communication skills required.
GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION
Position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and lifting equipment and materials up to 50 pounds. Requires visual activity, manual dexterity, and the ability to work backstage and in theatre facilities during rehearsals and performances.
