The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all production operations and shop floor activities, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality output, and a strong culture of safety. Reporting to the Senior Director of Manufacturing, this role drives operational excellence and employee engagement while aligning daily operations with the company's core priorities: safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lead daily shop floor operations in accordance with established procedures and in support of business strategy. Supervise assigned function to meet production schedules, quality standards and our customer delivery expectations. Coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders, maintain inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of products. Monitor daily progress and collaborate with the Production Control Manager/Supervisor to adjust schedules as needed, ensuring alignment with productivity and cost targets Champions a safety-first culture across all production areas. Maintain a clean, organized and hazard-free work environment. Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, policies and procedures. Conduct accident investigations, implementing corrective actions promptly. Ensure all products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues. Promote a culture of quality through training, accountability, and continuous improvement. Foster a positive and respectful workplace through effective employee relations and conflict resolution. Provide coaching, training and development opportunities to team members. Make employment-related decisions including hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions. Encourage employee involvement in problem-solving and improvement initiatives. Balance and optimize safety, quality, productivity, cost and morale to achieve business goals. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles Track and report departmental performance metrics including visual controls and progress updates. Ensure proper inventory control and material availability to support production goals while minimizing waste and excess cost. Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs without compromising quality or service.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Drive measurable improvements in safety, on-time delivery, product quality, productivity and customer satisfaction. Prioritize departmental tasks and manage workflow effectively to meet customer expectations. Maintain a working knowledge of Marion Body Work's product flow and manufacturing processes. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to manage multiple tasks. Excel at communication with all levels within the organization, customers and suppliers. Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment. Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to achieve results through motivating and developing others. Ability to influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organizations. Demonstrated understanding and experience using ERP systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma. Preferred Technical or bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline. 5+ years of progressive manufacturing experience and responsibility with 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience. Understanding Lean principles and practices. Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office products and PC proficiency.
