Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated instructor to teach Adult Basic Education for residents at Corrections Education Facility. The Mahoning County Career & Technical Center Aspire program offers free classes at flexible locations and times to meet the diverse needs of adult learners. The Adult Basic Education instructor is responsible for preparing lesson plans and instructing Aspire students following the program/course goals and objectives that are supportive of the department's mission to serve its customers. Responsibilities include monitoring, collecting, and evaluating student performance and progress toward program/course goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An Aspire corrections education instructor teaches basic education and career exploration skills to incarcerated adults in a correctional facility. Instruct students in the use of technology that is supportive of the program/course goals Assume responsibility for student retention and progress Assist in curriculum planning, development, selection and utilization of instructional materials Participate in program in-service education and staff training Employ appropriate procedures in establishing a proper classroom environment Increase awareness of other available adult and community education programs Monitor classroom compliance with Federal and State program regulations Provide classroom or individual instruction based on student needs (diagnostic testing and learning screenings) and student goals Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Experience in Adult and Corrections Education (Preferred) Additional consideration will be granted for higher level math skills Ohio Department of Education - Hold a valid Teacher License, Substitute License or Adult Education Permit. Must be able to pass BCI/FBI background checks and drug screen
