Archivist Bob Moog Foundation - 2.0 Asheville, NC Job Details Part-time From $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Teamwork Writing skills Research Master's degree Bachelor's degree Attention to detail Archival processing Preservation of archival materials Full Job Description The Bob Moog Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2006 to honor the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog. Bob Moog's innovations in music synthesis revolutionized almost every genre of music. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, it operates through three core pillars: interactive educational programs through Dr. Bob's SoundSchool (DBSS), deep archival preservation with the BMF Archives and The Moogseum—a physical interactive space exploring music, science, and innovation. The Part-time Archivist is responsible for the access to, professional care, daily management, and maintenance of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives (BMFA), including its organization, preservation, and storage. The Archivist refines, implements, and upholds archival policies and procedures with regard to processing, documenting, and accessing archival collections. Hours are approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential Archivist Job Functions:
  • Responsible for archival maintenance Evaluates and coordinates the rehousing and stabilization of archives Ensures compliance with government regulations related to archives Ensures accurate and up-to-date inventories and reconciliation of archives and records, including spot-check inventories Responsible for the appraisal, arrangement, and description of archival collections according to recognized standards Maintains records/database of and prioritizes backlog Purchases archival supplies in coordination with the Assistant Director Coordinates the move of archives into new or improved storage conditions if needed Manages Collector Systems database Responsible for receiving and accessing new collections Communicates with potential archival donors and stewards new donations • Manages archival policies and procedures Advises the Executive team in the creation, development, and implementation of collections management policies; archival procedures, procedures manual, departmental goals, and preservation planning Implements and refines the Foundation's records retention program in accordance with local, state, and federal law Conduct training for staff regarding records management and transfer of relevant records to the permanent institutional archives Implement current procedures and develop new procedures for archival collections, taking into account previous organizational and cataloging systems Ensures current Foundation archives handling procedures are recorded and enforced • Coordinates and facilitates archives access requests by staff, researchers, research associates, and the public, as well as responds to archives information inquiries and requests.

Responsible for researching and responding to copyright and ownership issues. Responsible for providing scans of images and documents as needed, using appropriate digital and metadata standards Assists Executive Director with photo, video, and document use licenses Coordinates and facilitates archives use in public programs Coordinates loans with the Executive Director Responsible for seeking and writing grants (in conjunction with Executive Director) for archival support

Qualifications Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in museum studies, library studies, anthropology or history
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of archival experience required
  • Experience with non-profit organizations is a plus
Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High attention to detail is of utmost importance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary
  • Initiative, drive, problem-solving, and self-motivation are key success traits
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaboration and teamwork
  • Knowledge of Bob Moog's legacy and electronic music preferred
  • Knowledge of Collectors System database and Monday.com is a plus
  • Familiarity with Apple operating systems and Google platforms.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a professional manner at all times
Working Conditions:
  • Professional office environment
  • Overnight travel on occasion, if needed
  • Willingness to work on weekends if necessary
