09/30/2026 $140 per day to 551.38 per day We are seeking a Long-Term Substitute Visual Arts Teacher to cover an extended leave. The ideal candidate has experience teaching art and/or a strong background as a visual artist. This position involves teaching ceramics, foundational art, and 3D/fashion design, and requires hands-on technical knowledge of clay techniques, kiln operation, and basic sewing.
Key Responsibilities Instruction:
Ceramics & Studio Tech:
Safely operate and fire kilns; instruct students in hand building, wheel throwing, and glazing techniques. Textiles & 3
D:
Teach basic hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills for fashion and 3D design projects.
Studio Safety & Management:
Maintain a safe studio environment, manage tool and equipment care, enforce safety protocols, and oversee studio cleanup and inventory.
Classroom Management:
Assess student work, track grades and attendance, and maintain an inclusive classroom environment. Qualifications Experience teaching high school visual arts, or a strong relevant background as a visual artist. Demonstrated experience firing kilns and proficiency in hand building and wheel throwing. Basic hand- and machine-sewing skills. Degree in Fine Arts, Studio Art, or Art Education (preferred). MDOE teaching license or equivalent credentials.
