Part-Time Art Teacher, Art Instructor, Teaching Artist:
Welch, WV Love art and working with kids, but not looking for a traditional full-time teaching position? ArtCart is looking for creative, energetic Art Teachers and Teaching Artists to bring hands-on art experiences directly into local elementary and middle school classrooms. This is a great part-time opportunity for artists, art educators, substitute teachers, or anyone with experience working with children who wants a fun and meaningful daytime schedule. ArtCart provides the curriculum, lesson structure, training, and support. You bring your creativity, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with students. Our instructors travel to assigned schools and lead engaging art lessons that introduce students to a variety of materials, techniques, artists, and creative processes. What You'll Do Teach engaging, hands-on ArtCart lessons in elementary and/or middle school classrooms Guide students through painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, and other creative experiences Encourage creativity, experimentation, and confidence rather than focusing on a "perfect" finished product Prepare and organize lesson materials and supplies Create a positive, energetic, and inclusive classroom environment Communicate with classroom teachers and school staff Help display and celebrate student artwork Participate in paid training, workshops, and occasional ArtCart events Coordinate your assigned school schedule with the ArtCart team Who We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you: Have experience working with children in education, childcare, tutoring, camps, after-school programs, coaching, mentoring, or similar settings Love art, creativity, and working with children Have experience in visual arts, fine arts, education, childcare, or another creative field Are comfortable speaking in front of and leading groups of students Are dependable, organized, energetic, and able to work independently Enjoy traveling to different schools and meeting new students and teachers Can adapt lessons for different ages, abilities, and learning needs Previous classroom teaching experience is helpful, but not required. Training and curriculum support are provided.
