Full Job Description General Description:

The English for Speaker of Other Languages (ESOL) Instructor is responsible for providing English instruction to adult learners and out-of-school youth, while assisting them in attaining their academic and career goals. This is an evening role, Monday- Thursday 12:00pm-8:30pm

Specific Essential Duties:

Plan and prepare for classroom instruction, aligning instruction closely to the MA English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS). Teach online component or teach fully online, as required. Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of students. Work with students on developing and implementing participatory projects based on classroom and community issues. Integrate digital literacy instruction into classes. Work with and, if assigned, supervise classroom volunteers. Provide referral for students to Education and Career Advisor, and other resources, as needed. Record student attendance in the attendance tracker. Submit class plans weekly or as required. Maintain and submit records and reports as required under funding guidelines. Participate in curriculum development specifically designed for adult ESOL students.. Work with Program Coordinator on program development, community development, and other projects. Attend all staff meetings and serve on staff committees, as needed. Participate in professional development activities. Other duties as required.

General Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of teaching

ESOL. TESOL

certificate and/or formal training in Language Acquisition. Familiarity with learner-centered teaching philosophy. Experience working with nonnative speakers of English, immigrant and refugee populations, and diverse cultures. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong computer skills. Some travel in employee's car is required; must have a valid Massachusetts driver's license. Ability to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bi-lingual is a plus.
