We are seeking a qualified and passionate Microbiology Professor to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching microbiology courses, developing engaging instructional materials, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic and professional development of the program. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in microbiology, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality, student-centered education. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level Microbiology courses. Develop and deliver lectures, laboratory sessions, demonstrations, and other instructional activities. Prepare and update course syllabi, lesson plans, lectures, laboratory exercises, assignments, and examinations. Provide hands-on laboratory instruction and ensure students understand proper microbiology laboratory techniques and procedures.
Teach topics such as:
General Microbiology Bacteriology Virology Mycology Parasitology Microbial Physiology Immunology Medical Microbiology Infection Control and Epidemiology Antimicrobial Resistance Evaluate student performance through examinations, laboratory activities, assignments, projects, presentations, and other appropriate assessments. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students. Hold office hours and provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to students. Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, and academic records. Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation activities. Collaborate with other faculty members to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Stay current with developments, research, technologies, and best practices in microbiology and related fields. Incorporate current scientific research and real-world applications into classroom and laboratory instruction. Ensure that laboratory activities follow appropriate biosafety, infection-control, and institutional safety requirements . Maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and academic leadership. Participate in departmental, institutional, community, or professional activities as assigned. Contribute to research, scholarly activities, publications, or presentations when applicable. Perform other academic and administrative duties related to the position as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or doctoral degree in Microbiology, Biology, Medical Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences , or a closely related field. Demonstrated knowledge of microbiology and related biological sciences. Previous teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred. Experience teaching laboratory-based microbiology courses is highly desirable. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop effective course materials and assessments. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. Commitment to student success and academic excellence. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Microbiology or a related discipline. College or university-level teaching experience. Experience teaching Medical Microbiology or microbiology courses for health sciences students. Laboratory research experience. Peer-reviewed publications, presentations, or other scholarly achievements. Experience with curriculum development and academic assessment. Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction. Familiarity with accreditation and institutional academic standards.
