JOB SUMMARY

The Chemistry Department within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University ofConnecticut, Waterbury, invites applications for an Instructor in Residence (IiR) position. The successful candidate will primarily beresponsible for teaching general and organic chemistry laboratory sections, as well as biochemistry laboratories in collaboration with otherfull-time faculty members. Other duties may be assigned as per the candidate's qualifications. An Instructor in Residence is expected toteach 10 undergraduate laboratories or the equivalent, in addition to remaining responsibilities focused on lab support, coordination, andoverall management related to course requirements, including preparing materials for all laboratory classes during the academic year. DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

This teaching-focused position emphasizes hands-on instruction in undergraduate chemistry laboratorycourses. The successful candidate should have experience in teaching a variety of college-level laboratory courses, including generalchemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and other foundational lab offerings. Further, we seek a dynamic and engaging laboratoryinstructor who can communicate effectively with undergraduate students and faculty members in Chemistry across all of UConn's campuses. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to laboratory-based instruction, student mentorship, and inclusive teachingpractices. They must also be dedicated to broadening participation among underrepresented groups and committed to supporting aneuro-inclusive learning environment. Through their efforts - alone and as part of an instructional team - they will help develop andimplement inclusive, evidence-based laboratory pedagogies that support diverse learning styles and foster student engagement and success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in chemistry or a closely related field (granted by startdate). Experience teaching laboratory courses. Demonstrated experience with current safety practices, waste and hazardmanagement, and environmental health and safety practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PhD degreein Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology. Experience with laboratory courses other than general chemistry. Demonstratedcommunication skills.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is a full-time, nine (9)-month, non-tenure trackposition at the Waterbury campus that may lead to long-term multi-year contracts. This position is renewable, contingent on satisfactoryperformance, mutual agreement, and availability of funds, with a start date of January 1, 2027. The successful candidate's primaryacademic appointment will be at the Waterbury Campus.
