Special Service Contract - $1,000.00 Job Description The wrestling coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a positive and competitive middle school athletic program. This role focuses on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character while creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for student-athletes. Coaches work closely with the athletic director, the after school activities coordinator, school administration, staff, students, and families to support the overall mission of the school.

Job Summary:

Plan, organize, and lead all practices, meets, and team activities Collaborate with co-coaches Teach sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect at all times Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes growth, effort, and learning Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, travel, and team events Communicate effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration Ensure compliance with school, league, and district policies and procedures Maintain attendance, equipment inventories, uniforms, and basic records as required Model professionalism and serve as a positive role model for students Prioritize student safety, including proper warm-ups, conditioning, and injury protocols

Qualifications:

Experience coaching or participating in the sport at the youth, middle school, or higher level Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work positively with middle school-aged students Knowledge of age-appropriate training techniques and skill development Ability to manage team dynamics and support student growth both on and off the court Required background checks and district/school clearances Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required White Fleet training through FUSD's transportation department required (complete after hiring process) CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required Teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required

Working Conditions:

Practices and meets occur after school hours and will include occasional evenings and weekends Practices are Monday through Thursday from 3:30 - 5:00 pm Meets are typically one day/week No practices or meets on Fridays, but occasional weigh-ins on Fridays Work is performed indoors Physical activity is required, including standing, walking, running, and demonstrating skills Seasonal position aligned with the athletic calendar All employees are subject to a criminal background check.
