POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Men's and Women's Golf Coach supports the Head Coach in the development and administration of the Men's and Women's Golf programs. Responsibilities include assisting with coaching, student-athlete development, recruiting, practice and competition preparation, and day-to-day program operations. This position contributes to a positive, competitive, and Christ-centered environment that supports the athletic, academic, personal, and spiritual development of student-athletes. This position reports directly to the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach.
POSITION DUTIES
In partnership with the Head Coach, develop a strong team culture that reflects Vanguard's mission and values while demonstrating a commitment to student development goals, Athletic Department objectives, and team success. Utilize sport-specific knowledge, training techniques, and team-building leadership skills to support a competitively excellent program. In partnership with the Head Coach, promote a leadership approach consistent with the University's mission that supports individual student-athletes' spiritual growth, team involvement in service and worship, and participation in Athletic Department activities that foster spiritual development. Assist in monitoring student-athlete academic progress and support high retention and graduation rates by tracking coursework, grades, class attendance, and overall academic progress.
Recruiting:
Work closely with Admissions on the recruitment of all Prospective Student-Athletes. Maintain a strong understanding of and adhere to all University, conference, and national association recruiting policies and procedures. Focus recruiting efforts on identifying and signing student-athletes who align with the University's lifestyle standards, academic expectations, commitment to graduation, and institutional values. Facilitate the provision of all information necessary to determine Prospective Student-Athlete eligibility. Ensure all recruiting activities are entered in Teamworks software. Build and foster positive relationships with high school, junior college, and club coaches. Foster a collegial environment that supports effective decision-making and administration across the University and within the Athletic Department. In partnership with the Head Coach, develop and manage the program budget under the guidance of Athletic Department Administration. Actively engage in opportunities to enhance the team and Athletic Department through the Vanguard University Invest in Gold program, including working toward established annual fundraising targets and building meaningful relationships with community members, alumni, and prospective donors. Lead and conduct team activities, practices, and meetings in the absence of the Head Coach. Adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the Athletic Department, University, Pacific West Conference, and NCAA. Attend and participate in department meetings. Submit complete and accurate expense reports and reconcile P-card expenses in accordance with timelines established by the Office of Accounting. Maintain a thorough understanding of NCAA Division II and Pacific West Conference rules and regulations and promote an atmosphere of compliance within the Athletic Department. Assist staff and student-athletes in understanding and adhering to applicable requirements to prevent compliance violations. The same expectations apply to any other athletic organization in which the University holds membership. Remain current on applicable regulations, trends, and student-athlete conduct expectations through professional development, conferences, meetings, and relevant materials. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Director, including but not limited to program reporting.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required. Preferred two years' experience in athletics department environment or the equivalent thereof. Must be CPR and First Aid Certified. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications. Ability to work independently and prioritize diverse and specialized details and tasks. Ability to handle complaints and assist in conflict management. Absolute preservation of confidential records, financial data and agreed upon conversations. Ability to be flexible to changing conditions, needs, and job responsibilities. A strong interest in seeing intercollegiate athletes succeed. An understanding and sensitivity to FERPA laws as it pertains to student-athletes. A working knowledge of NCAA rules, bylaws and philosophies. Knowledge and acceptance of principles and philosophies of Vanguard University.

Knowledge and acceptance of the mission, principles and philosophies of Vanguard University SALARY This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position anticipated to continue through the Golf season, subject to business needs. The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00 per hour. Placement within the salary range is commensurate upon education and experience. Posted salary range reflects anticipated hiring scale for the position. Placement at the upper range is reserved for those that demonstrate the highest level of education and experience necessary for this position.
