Part-Time About the Position Holy Trinity Lutheran Academy is seeking an energetic, responsible, and experienced Youth Sports Coach / PE Instructor to join our after-school program. The primary sports taught in this position may include: Soccer Basketball Pickleball Badminton We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children and can provide structured, engaging, and age-appropriate sports instruction while helping students develop physical skills, confidence, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Responsibilities Plan and lead sports classes primarily in soccer, basketball, pickleball, and badminton Teach basic techniques, rules, skills, and game strategies Organize age-appropriate drills, games, and team activities Introduce students to different sports and encourage active participation Adapt instruction for different ages and skill levels Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, discipline, and healthy competition Maintain a positive, encouraging, and well-managed environment Actively supervise students and prioritize safety at all times Set up and properly store sports equipment Monitor students' participation, skill development, and progress Communicate professionally with parents/guardians when needed Collaborate with Academy teachers, staff, and administration Follow all Academy safety, behavior, and student supervision policies Qualifications Experience coaching or teaching soccer, basketball, pickleball, badminton, or other youth sports Minimum 2 years of coaching, PE teaching, or youth sports experience preferred Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students Ability to teach beginning and intermediate sports skills in an age-appropriate manner Strong group and behavior management skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents/guardians, and Academy staff Energetic, patient, positive, responsible, and dependable Strong understanding of student safety during sports and physical activities Ability to motivate students with different athletic abilities and experience levels Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Must meet Academy requirements regarding background checks and student safety Preferred Qualifications Background in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Coaching, Education, or a related field Coaching experience in one or more of the following: soccer, basketball, pickleball, and badminton Experience working in a school, after-school program, recreation center, youth league, or sports academy CPR and First Aid certification Schedule Part-Time / After-School Classes will be held during weekday after-school hours. Specific days and hours will be discussed based on the Academy's program needs and the candidate's availability.
