This role is responsible for overseeing after school cheer and educational tutoring for grades K - 5. In this role, the coach will foster a positive environment that promotes physical activity, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. Your passion for cheer and education will help children develop essential skills, on and off the field. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a dynamic, supportive setting. Responsibilites Inspect and prepare fields / play areas. Set up and take down cheer equipment. Take roll and check in students. Create teams and maintain an equitable environment. Supervise programs and report all incidents to supervisor. Lead dynamic warm-ups in a fun manner. Coach students in cheer throughout the academic year. Tutor kids in various elementary school work (at specific locations). Foster a positive environment that encourages participation, sportsmanship, and confidence-building among students of diverse backgrounds. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress reports, and behavioral observations to monitor each child's growth and needs. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Skills, Education & Certification Proven experience as a cheer coach or physical education instructor with knowledge of coaching techniques in cheerleading. Prior team cheer experience preferred. High school diploma or GED (minimum). Bachelor's Degree preferred. Youth cheer coach certification preferred (USA Cheer, YCADA, NFHS). Current
CPR / AED
/ First Aid. 1 year experience training / coaching / working with youth. Strong background in teaching or tutoring children with an emphasis on behavior management and social skills development. Disciplined work ethic, highly responsible. Competent leader and mentor, encouraging to others. Thrives in opportunities for feedback and growth. Ability to work effectively with students of all ages while fostering a supportive learning environment. Excellent communication skills to motivate children and collaborate with team members effectively. Prior customer service experience. Successful track record at prior jobs. Enthusiastic, high energy. Strong communication, time management and follow up skills. Criminal clearance including fingerprints and background check.
Requirements:
Graduation from high school or equivalent, along with one of the following: 1. A minimum of 36 semester units of college coursework in early childhood education, social science, recreation, child development, or a closely related field. OR 2. A minimum of 16 semester units of college coursework in early childhood education, social science, recreation, child development or a closely related field AND pass the Expanded Learning Aide Proficiency Exam that demonstrates knowledge of the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics. Duties Plan and execute engaging cheerleading practices that teach routines, stunts, and team coordination tailored for elementary-aged children Foster a supportive team environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive communication among students Incorporate educational components into activities to promote physical literacy, behavior management, and social-emotional learning Provide clear instruction on safety procedures, including AED operation and first aid/CPR certification requirements Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior, and upcoming events Supervise children during practice sessions, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times At times, lead age-appropriate activities that integrate sports-specific training instruction such as soccer coaching or basketball drills to enhance overall athletic development Experience Prior experience working with children in a coaching or teaching capacity, especially within physical education or sports teams Demonstrated ability to lead team activities with enthusiasm and effective communication skills Background in cheerleading, gymnastics, martial arts, climbing or other sports-specific training instruction preferred Knowledge of behavior management techniques suitable for elementary students Certification in first aid and CPR; AED operation experience is highly desirable Experience working in health clubs or gym environments involving youth fitness programs is a plus Proven track record of fostering positive relationships with children while maintaining safety standards This role offers an exciting chance to make a meaningful impact on young students' lives through active engagement and mentorship.
