Pay Rate:
$20 - $22 per hour plus commission ($12/person) Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 4 - 6 hours per week Hours of position/shifts will vary depending upon club business.
Summary:
Reporting to the Aquatics Director, the Masters Swim Coach motivates, teaches, and pushes our members to achieve their unique personal goals. The Masters Swim Coach facilitates a program that enhances the quality of life of our swimmers by assisting them with goal setting, time management, discipline, general fitness and teamwork. They will implement a program and write swim workouts that will meet the different needs of all members on the team, such as competitive swimming, non-competitive physical fitness swimming, triathlon/cross training and stroke technique improvement. The Masters Swim Coach is responsible for opening the pool on weekday mornings, Tuesday through Friday starting at 5:45am or 6:45am. Shifts vary up to 2 hours per day. Claremont Country Club is a welcoming and unique property located in the Oakland Hills. It was founded in 1897 as the Oakland Golf Club down by Lake Merritt and moved up the hill to its current home in 1903. Claremont is a member owned club with 825 Members. Our golf course is an Allister Mackenzie course which was completely refurbished 10 years ago. We also have 7 tennis courts, a large aquatics complex, fitness facility and a very social membership with a busy events schedule. Claremont is rich in history and tradition with a tradition of being warm and welcoming to members and guests.
Qualifications:
- Current Certificates required within 90 days of employment: American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches, or equivalent.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Prior experience on a swim team, preferably at the collegiate level or higher.
- Prior experience coaching preferred, but not required.
- Ability to communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
- Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to be punctual to all scheduled shifts.
- Must be able to work early morning shifts.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Working conditions are often, hot, humid, slippery and wet. Able to work in a busy, noisy environment. Able to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents.
