We offer classes, workshops, and products designed to help people build healthier, more connected relationships with food and cooking.

bring the kitchen back to the community. We believe healthy cooking doesn't need to be complicated, expensive, or intimidating. We want to give people practical skills that make cooking at home easier, more enjoyable, and more approachable. About the Role We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable Kitchen Skills Instructor to lead practical, hands-on cooking skills sessions at The Lucky Gut Collective. This role is different from a traditional cooking class instructor. Rather than teaching elaborate recipes or multi-course meals, our Skills Classes are focused on teaching the foundational techniques and practical knowledge that help people become more confident and capable in their own kitchens.
Think:
the things everyone should know how to do in the kitchen but many people were never taught. Classes may focus on one specific skill or a small collection of related skills and should leave participants feeling like, "I can actually do that at home." What You'll Teach Skills classes may include topics such as: Knife skills and kitchen safety How to make a great soup from what you have on hand Basic sauces, dressings and vinaigrettes How to build flavor using salt, acid, fat, herbs and spices Cooking grains such as rice, quinoa, farro and barley How to properly roast vegetables Cooking eggs multiple ways How to cook chicken, fish and other proteins confidently Cooking with beans and legumes How to make a meal from pantry staples How to cook without relying on a recipe Meal prep and batch cooking techniques Using leftovers creatively Freezer cooking basics Meal prep basics Building balanced, flavorful salads Basic baking and bread skills Kitchen organization and efficiency How to stock a practical, versatile pantry Seasonal cooking techniques How to save time and reduce waste in the kitchen Cooking affordable, nourishing meals for a family Other foundational skills that help people cook more often at home We are especially interested in instructors who can take a culinary concept and make it simple, approachable and useful for everyday life. Key Responsibilities Lead engaging, hands-on kitchen skills classes for small groups Teach practical cooking techniques in a clear and approachable way Break down culinary skills so that participants of varying experience levels can follow along Demonstrate techniques while allowing participants to practice whenever appropriate Create an encouraging, welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable asking questions Provide practical tips, shortcuts and techniques that participants can use at home Help participants understand the why behind cooking techniques, not just the steps Adapt instruction based on the experience level and needs of the group Prepare for classes by reviewing recipes, ingredients, equipment and demonstrations Maintain a clean, organized and food-safe teaching environment Follow all food safety and sanitation requirements Communicate clearly with The LGC team regarding class needs, ingredients and equipment Represent The Lucky Gut Collective's mission and values while interacting with participants What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Has strong foundational culinary skills and practical kitchen knowledge Enjoys teaching and sharing knowledge with others Can explain cooking concepts in a simple, non-intimidating way Is comfortable working with people of different ages and skill levels Is enthusiastic, approachable and engaging Understands food safety and sanitation practices Is organized and dependable Loves helping people become more confident in the kitchen Believes cooking should be practical, enjoyable and accessible Has a genuine interest in nourishing, seasonal and whole-food cooking Professional culinary experience is preferred, but formal culinary education is not required .
