Position Summary:
Through YMCA Programs, the Gymnastics Instructor will instruct classes to school age children. This position will encourage physical activity, teach a variety of techniques and encourage all children to have fun while being physically active.
Essential Functions:
Design and conduct a safe and fun gymnastics/tumbling class from opening stretch through cool down. Teach & physically spot Pre-School through Intermediate level gymnastics/tumbling skills. Instruct a class of children of various ability levels and ages. Increase athlete's skill level through developmentally appropriate skill progressions. Provide a high energy and positive learning environment for all gymnastics/tumbling classes. During class, effectively and positively communicate with children regarding their behavior, skill development, and overall progress. Effectively and positively communicate with parents regarding their child's progress in gymnastics/tumbling. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention. Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests. Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities.

Qualifications:
At least 1 year experience in teaching Gymnastics and Tumbling is preferred. 1 - 2 years coaching youth sports is required. Must be enthusiastic, positive, resourceful, adaptable, patience and creative. Must pass Level 2 Background Screening. Level 2 is a fingerprint check of state and federal criminal history information conducted through the Florida Department of law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Physical Demands:
1. Acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction). 2. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. 3. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
