Job Description

Job Summary Woodland High School is seeking passionate, dependable, and knowledgeable individuals to join our baseball program as either a Varsity Assistant Coach or Junior Varsity Head Coach for the upcoming spring season. This is a paid stipend position that runs from January through May . We are looking for coaches who are committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Our coaches are expected to teach the fundamentals of baseball, promote discipline and accountability, build positive relationships with players and families, and help prepare young men for success in athletics and life. Availability is essential , as practices, games, and team responsibilities typically occur Monday through Saturday from approximately 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM , with occasional schedule adjustments throughout the season. Duties Assist in planning and conducting organized, high-energy practices that focus on baseball fundamentals, skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Teach and reinforce proper baseball techniques, including hitting, pitching, catching, infield, outfield, base running, and situational play. Help develop student-athletes into better baseball players while serving as a positive role model and mentor. Assist with coaching during practices, scrimmages, and games throughout the season. Ride the team bus to and from away games and tournaments as assigned. Communicate professionally with players, parents, coaching staff, school administration, and athletic department personnel. Help monitor academic accountability, character development, and player discipline. Assist with field preparation, equipment organization, and cleanup before and after practices and games. Support the Head Coach in implementing the vision, standards, and culture of the Woodland High School Baseball Program. Perform other coaching responsibilities as assigned to ensure a successful and organized program. Experience Previous baseball coaching experience at the youth, middle school, high school, collegiate, or travel ball level is strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of baseball rules, strategies, player development, and game management. Ability to effectively teach baseball fundamentals while motivating and encouraging student-athletes. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to build positive relationships with players, parents, and staff. Dependable, organized, and committed to maintaining a positive and professional coaching environment. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification are preferred but not required. Must successfully complete all Henry County Schools and GHSA coaching requirements, including background checks and required certifications before the season begins.
