Sugar Hill's Best After School Program & Summer Camp is looking for an energetic, dependable, and motivated Coach / Assistant Director in Training to join our team. This position is designed for someone who will begin as a Coach while receiving additional training and responsibilities to prepare for advancement into an Assistant Director position.

IMPORTANT

The Assistant Director position is an earned leadership role. All Assistant Directors must first demonstrate that they can successfully perform the responsibilities of a Coach, consistently follow company systems, build strong relationships with students and families, and demonstrate leadership within the team. As you successfully complete training and demonstrate competency, additional Assistant Director responsibilities may be assigned.

COACH RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Coach, you will help provide an exciting, structured, safe, and positive experience for our students. Coaches may lead or assist with activities including:

• Dance
• Tumbling
• Parkour / Ninja Warrior
• Sports including basketball, soccer, football, lacrosse, baseball, volleyball, golf, and more
• P.E.-style games and activities
• Arts & crafts
• Team-building activities
• K-5th grade educational activities
• Indoor and outdoor recreation
• Student snack and transition periods
• After-school and summer camp activities Additional Coach responsibilities include:
• Actively supervising students at all times
• Leading activities with enthusiasm and positive energy
• Following the daily program schedule
• Maintaining appropriate student behavior and enforcing program expectations
• Building positive relationships with students and parents
• Helping maintain a clean, organized, and "tour-ready" facility
• Setting up and cleaning activity areas
• Assisting other coaches and team members when needed
• Attending required staff meetings and trainings
• Communicating professionally with management and coworkers

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IN TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES

Once proficiency in the Coach position has been demonstrated, training will begin in leadership and Assistant Director responsibilities.

Training may include:

• Learning how to lead and support other coaches
• Helping ensure the daily schedule is followed correctly
• Helping coaches prepare and execute activities
• Assisting with opening and/or closing procedures
• Conducting facility walkthroughs to maintain tour readiness
• Helping oversee student transitions and dismissal
• Supporting student behavior management and disciplinary procedures
• Learning how to appropriately communicate student incidents to parents
• Assisting with injury documentation and parent communication
• Learning medication procedures and policies
• Assisting with student and event registrations
• Learning how to answer parent and prospect questions about our programs
• Assisting with facility tours for prospective families
• Helping maintain positive relationships between parents, students, and staff
• Helping identify and report facility or maintenance concerns
• Assisting with inventory, supplies, snacks, equipment, and ordering needs
• Helping prepare for special events, camps, and program activities
• Assisting with staff training
• Providing coaching feedback and support to team members
• Learning administrative systems and procedures
• Learning management communication and daily reporting procedures
• Participating in leadership debriefs with the Director and/or ownership

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for our team, you must: Be at least 18 years old Be able to pass all required background screenings Have experience working with children Have reliable transportation Have a valid driver's license Be enthusiastic and maintain a positive attitude Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Own a smartphone or computer for regular text and email communication Be willing to attend required staff meetings and trainings Be willing to learn both coaching and administrative responsibilities Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of childcare, teaching, coaching, camp, or youth-program experience Previous leadership or management experience First Aid Certification CPR Certification Experience supervising employees Customer service experience Experience communicating with parents Experience in sports, martial arts, gymnastics, dance, education, recreation, or similar programs

CAREER GROWTH

This position is intended to provide a clear leadership pathway: Coach → Assistant Director in Training → Assistant Director Advancement is based on performance, reliability, leadership ability, completion of training requirements, and demonstrated competency — not simply length of employment. Employees progressing through Assistant Director training may receive increased responsibilities and compensation as milestones are successfully completed. A fully qualified Assistant Director may be responsible for independently supervising portions of the program, leading staff, communicating with parents, handling administrative duties, and assisting management with the overall operation of the facility.

COMPENSATION & HOURS

Starting compensation will typically fall within the Coach pay range, depending on experience. As additional Assistant Director responsibilities are learned and successfully performed, compensation may increase accordingly.

Expected Pay Range:

$13.00-$17.00 per hour during the Coach / Assistant Director Training pathway. A fully promoted Assistant Director may be eligible for additional compensation based on responsibilities, performance, and company needs. Typical hours may range from approximately 20-30+ hours per week , depending on the season, program schedule, performance, and leadership responsibilities. Additional hours may be available during:
