Job Description

The Head Baseball Coach at Top Tier Baseball is responsible for managing all on-field and off-field operations of an assigned amateur travel baseball team. As part of one of the nation's premier development organizations—which has produced 100 MLB draft picks and over 750 collegiate athletes.
Core Responsibilities Player Development & Instruction:
Establish and teach fundamental philosophies, advanced mechanics, and situational in-game strategies aligned with Top Tier standards. Implement continuous development strategies for rosters of 10-15 elite amateur athletes.
Practice & Winter Training Management:
Lead the multi-week indoor winter training workouts (traditionally held at primary hubs like the McCook Athletic Center ).
Game & Tournament Leadership:
Manage all aspects of games, including determining lineups, formulating substitutions, establishing strategic positioning, and managing strict pitch counts to protect player health.
Roster Evaluation & Tryouts:
Actively participate in the organizational player identification process, executing player evaluations during formal tryouts and winter instruction blocks to build competitive rosters.
Administrative Oversight & Communication:
Coordinate team schedules, manage administrative requirements, handle logistics for regional and overnight showcase tournaments, and maintain structural, transparent communication with parents and players.
Schedule & Commitment Practice Timeline:
The formalized indoor practice and winter training schedule begins in November .
Weekly Commitment:
Requires a dedicated time commitment of one to two days per week during the winter training months, shifting to higher frequency during the spring and summer competitive tournament seasons.
Flexibility Needed:
Schedule availability must include weeknights for training blocks and extensive weekend availability for tournament play during peak seasons.
Required Qualifications & Skills Coaching Experience:
Proven track record as a baseball coach, preferably within highly competitive high school, collegiate, or elite travel/club baseball programs.
Playing Experience:
High school or college-level playing experience is highly preferred to demonstrate a nuanced understanding of elite game pacing and competitive pressure.
Certifications:
Valid background checks and safety credentials required.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep fluency in baseball tactics, analytical strategy, modern training mechanisms, and pitch-count monitoring guidelines.
Compensation & Additional Income Opportunities Base Financial Terms:
This position offers a competitive seasonal stipend ranging from $5,000 to $7,500 . The exact stipend amount within this range is determined based on prior experience, verified qualifications, and team placement.
Hourly Extra Hours:
Beyond core team duties, coaches have immediate access to additional hourly income opportunities starting at $20 per hour . These extra hours may include leading private lessons, conducting specialty position clinics, or supporting facility rentals.
Residual Income:
Opportunities are available to generate passive or residual income through specific organizational programs, roster milestones, or camp registrations.
Travel Costs:
Organization-approved travel expenses and lodging logistics for designated out-of-town national showcase tournaments are typically covered or subsidized by the club.
