Job Description

Annual compensation $935 as per the current Extra Service Salary Schedule.

Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and be at least 21 years of age.

Must successfully complete any KHSAA coaching requirements plus obtain certification in first aid and CPR.

Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and interviews may be conducted on a rolling basis. The position will remain posted and applications will be accepted until a candidate has successfully fulfilled all pre-employment requirements and the vacancy is officially filled.

BASIC FUNCTION

Assist Head Coach in High School Softball program. Coach Junior Varsity team.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Assist in promoting sports in the school and community.

Assist the head coach in planning the softball program.

Assist the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.

Assist the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.

Assist the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self-control.

Assist in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.

Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.

Conduct learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.

Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.

Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:

Fundamentals of softball.

Health and safety regulations.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

ABILITY TO

Assist Head Coach.

Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law; and

64 semester college hours or completion of a Level 2 Coaching Education Program

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of criminal record checks, AIDS awareness training, and current certification in first aid and CPR.

As a condition of initial employment, all employees shall pass a medical examination. The medical examination shall be reported on the form required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation available at the Board of Education office. The examination shall be provided by a licensed physician, physician assistant (PA), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Each medical examination shall include a risk assessment for tuberculosis as required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation. Individuals identified by that assessment as being at high risk for TB shall be required to undergo a tuberculin skin test. A Medical exam & TB screen performed for another school district of current employment or within a 6 month separation period may be accepted. 702 KAR 001:160

All applicants being considered for employment shall be required to submit to a urinalysis test for the detection of illegal use of drugs and alcohol. An applicant refusing to complete any part of the drug testing procedure will not be considered a valid candidate for employment with the District, and such will be considered as a withdrawal of the individual's application for employment. If substance screening shows a confirmed positive result for which there is no current physician's prescription, a second confirming test may be requested by the HRC. If the first or any requested second confirming test is positive, any current job offer will be revoked. The applicant will not be permitted to reapply for employment with the District for at least twelve (12) months and not until the applicant shows proof of successful completion of a drug rehabilitation program or proof that the applicant is no longer engaging in illegal drug use. A drug screen, which includes our 5 required panels, performed for another school district of current employment or within a 6 month separation period may be accepted. DSISD School Policy 03.23251
