Overview The position is for a Basketball Coach in a semi-private athletic club in Medfield, MA. The club is looking for an enthusiastic candidate that can work with a wide range of clients, teach fundamental basketball skills, as well as advanced basketball training. The part-time positions will consist mostly of coaching and training athletes in the afternoons and/or weekends and have an opportunity to teach and build a large client base for private, semi-private, and group lessons. This individual must have experience coaching players in Grades K-12. Playing experience is required. This candidate should possess an eagerness and passion for teaching youth sports. This is a great opportunity for coaches and instructors who want to develop professionally in the sport of basketball and make a positive impact on elementary, middle school and high school-aged athletes. Responsibilities Oversee and work directly with youths ages 5-20 to ensure that proper basketball skills help promote ongoing development. Work with the Head of Basketball and Sporst Court Director on assigned clinics, and provide input based on participant's preferences, requests, etc. to maximize optimal experience. Collaborate with the Head of Basketball on structure of classes, and approved teaching methods. Report to the HOB or SCD any equipment items needed or in need of repair. Become knowledgeable in the club's operating software, Club Automation (CA) for the purposes of booking lessons and checking in participants (during programs, for example). Familiarize yourself with the club's processes and operating procedures. Possess an eager but patient, calm demeanor Become aware of the lesson rates, clinics, duration, etc. so you may effectively communicate the information to prospective clients Adjust coaching style to fit individuals, and look for opportunities to promote team-building Be sociable, empathetic, and have good communication skills Set realistic, age-appropriate expectations for players Handle all parents and/or guardians questions and concerns professionally. Demonstrate commitment to the health, safety and development of players Familiar with first aid/CPR/AED, injury prevention, and treatment Ensure the child's safety while maintaining the appropriate demeanor Requirements Proven experience coaching basketball at various levels; sports coaching experience preferred Strong knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and strategies Ability to lead teams confidently with excellent communication skills Experience working with children or youth in a coaching or teaching capacity Background in basketball specific training and techniques, as well as coaching techniques in relatable activities. Previous experience in health clubs or gym environments is advantageous Passion for physical education, team leadership, and fostering a fun yet disciplined atmosphere.
