POSITION SUMMARY
American International College (AIC) is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Assistant Field Hockey Coach to support all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division II program. Working closely with the Head Field Hockey Coach, the Assistant Coach will help lead practice planning and execution, game-day strategy, film review, recruiting, and the day-to-day development of student-athletes both on and off the field. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging coach to grow within a supportive athletics department that values integrity, student-athlete development, and competitive excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing daily practices, conditioning sessions, and game-day preparation. Provide position-specific instruction and individualized skill development for student-athletes. Assist with scouting, film breakdown, and opponent game-planning. Support recruiting efforts, including talent identification, evaluation, campus visits, and communication with prospective student-athletes and families in compliance with NCAA and NE10 recruiting rules. Help monitor student-athlete academic progress and support a culture of accountability in the classroom. Travel with the team to away competitions as needed, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays during the competitive season. Assist with equipment management, facility scheduling, and general program administration. Represent the program and AIC Athletics professionally at team, department, and community events. Ensure full compliance with NCAA, NE10, and AIC rules and regulations at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's degree required. Prior playing and/or coaching experience in field hockey at the collegiate, club, or high school level. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and travel during the field hockey season. Current certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date) in CPR/First Aid/AED. Successful completion of a background check (CORI/SORI) as required by AIC and NCAA policy.
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related field. Experience recruiting at the NCAA Division II level. Familiarity with video/scouting software (e.g., Hudl, Spiideo) and statistical analysis tools. Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete academic success and holistic development.
