November 30, 2026Position OverviewThe Sutton Athletic Department is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Varsity Cheerleading Head Coach to lead and build upon our athletic program. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering athletic excellence, teaching technical skills, and promoting a positive, inclusive team culture. The Head Coach oversees team development and collaborates with players, parents, and administration to ensure a successful experience for all stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development:
Develop and implement training programs to improve team performance, individual skills, and overall fitness.
Team Management:
Lead all aspects of the Varsity team, including practices, games, and team-related events.
Player Instruction:
Coach athletes in the fundamentals of the sport, strategy, and sportsmanship while encouraging teamwork and character development.
Organization:
Facilitate pre-season conditioning, practices, and team-building activities.
Communication:
Maintain effective communication with athletes, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and progress.
Logistics & Supervision:
Manage game-day logistics, including preparation and athlete supervision.
Academic Oversight:
Monitor the academic progress of athletes to ensure a healthy balance between athletics and academics.
Facility/Equipment Care:
Work with the athletic department to maintain equipment and relevant athletic facilities.
Policy Compliance:
Uphold and enforce all school, district, and league policies and procedures.
QualificationsExperience:
Prior coaching experience in the specific sport, preferably at the high school level (Head Coaching experience is preferred).
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of sport-specific techniques, strategies, and rules.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Mentorship:
Proven ability to inspire and motivate athletes to achieve their potential both on and off the field.
Certifications:
CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain it prior to the season start).
