PART TIME COACH
- Afternoons Washington Episcopal School - Bethesda, MD Washington Episcopal School (WES) seeks an enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered Part-Time Coach to support our interscholastic athletics program during the school year. This afternoon position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students, works well as part of a team, and has experience coaching youth sports. The successful candidate will work closely with the Athletics Department to coach or assist with teams during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. WES offers cross-country, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and track and field. Experience coaching one or more of these sports is preferred. Monday-Thursday 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. School-year position,
September-May Compensation/Benefits Compensation:
$13,000-$15,000, based on experience No other benefits are provided. Flexible Opportunity Our preference is to hire one individual for the full school year. However, we also welcome applicants who are available for only the fall, winter, or spring season, or for a combination of seasons. Applicants should indicate their seasonal availability and preferred sports when applying. Responsibilities Coach or assist with interscholastic athletic teams during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Plan and lead organized, age-appropriate practices. Support student skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, effort, and confidence. Create a safe, positive, structured, and inclusive environment for all student-athletes. Work collaboratively with the Athletics Department and other coaches. Safely drive the school's 15-passenger bus to transport students to and from athletic contests and other school activities, as needed. Assist with game-day responsibilities, equipment setup, supervision, and other Athletics Department needs. Communicate professionally and effectively with students, families, colleagues, and opposing schools. Model reliability, enthusiasm, good judgment, and respectful behavior. Qualifications Experience coaching youth or school athletics. Experience working with children in a school, camp, recreation, or athletic setting. Knowledge of one or more of the following sports: cross-country, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, or track and field. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team. Ability to meet WES requirements to drive the school's 15-passenger bus. Dependability, flexibility, and a willingness to support the needs of the Athletics Department. A bachelor's degree, or current pursuit of a degree, is preferred but not required. This position is an excellent opportunity for experienced coaches, teachers, graduate students, recent college graduates, or others interested in working with student-athletes in a supportive independent-school environment.
