Job Description
Position:
Schedule B
- Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach
Hours:
After school (2:30 p.m.
- hours may vary depending on practice schedule or competition)
Duration:
November 9, 2026
- February 27, 2027
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, organization, and oversight of the Howell Competitive Cheer program.
Plan, organize, and supervise tryouts, practices, competitions, and other team activities.
Teach and develop competitive cheer skills with an emphasis on proper technique, athlete safety, and competitive performance.
Establish and maintain a positive program culture that promotes sportsmanship, academic success, personal development, and the values of Howell Public Schools and Howell Athletics.
Ensure compliance with all HPS, KLAA, and MHSAA rules, eligibility requirements, policies, certifications, and required meetings.
Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, families, coaching staff, school administration, and the Athletic Department.
Maintain required program records, including rosters, schedules, eligibility information, competition results, and other required documentation.
Coordinate with the Athletic Department regarding scheduling, facilities, transportation, purchasing, fundraising, and other program needs.
Complete all required preseason, in-season, and end-of-season administrative responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Requirements:
High school and/or collegiate competitive cheer experience required.
Previous high school and/or collegiate cheer coaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of competitive cheer skills, techniques, safety standards, and competition preparation.
Ability to effectively teach, develop, and supervise student-athletes at varying skill levels.
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with student-athletes, families, coaching staff, school administration, and the Athletic Department.
Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, academic achievement, and the values and expectations of Howell Public Schools.
Must meet all Howell Public Schools, EduStaff and MHSAA coaching requirements, certifications, and background checks.
Wages:
Per the HEA Collective Bargaining Agreement
