Overview Join our dynamic educational team as a Middle School Cheer Coach Assistant and inspire young athletes to develop their cheerleading skills, foster teamwork, and build school spirit! In this paid position, you will lead cheerleading practices, coordinate performances, and promote a positive, energetic environment that encourages growth, discipline, and camaraderie among middle school students. Your enthusiasm and leadership will help shape confident, motivated students while ensuring safety and skill development at every step. Duties Plan and execute engaging cheerleading practices that focus on technique, choreography, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Coach students on cheerleading routines, stunts, jumps, tumbling, and coordination to prepare for competitions and school events. Foster a safe environment by teaching proper spotting techniques and supervising all physical activities with attention to safety protocols. Promote positive behavior management strategies to encourage respect, discipline, and teamwork among students. Coordinate with school staff to organize performances at sporting events, assemblies, and competitions that showcase the team's skills. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about team progress, upcoming events, and student development. Maintain equipment inventory, ensure proper use of sports gear, and uphold safety standards during all activities. Qualifications Prior experience in cheerleading coaching or sports team leadership is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and adolescents in a coaching or teaching capacity. Knowledge of cheerleading techniques including stunts, tumbling, jumps, and choreography. Strong communication skills to motivate students and collaborate with school staff and parents. Experience in sports-specific training instruction or coaching soccer, basketball or other team sports is a plus. Certifications in First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED operation knowledge is desirable. Background in physical education teaching or sports coaching enhances your suitability for this role. Skills in behavior management to foster a respectful and disciplined team environment.
